I normally begin a piece with wild marks and bold brush strokes. Adding layer after layer to create depth. Then simplifying it to create areas of focus.
I love balancing opaque areas with translucent glazes and often paint in acrylic then finish with an oil overpainting.
I use a multi-disciplinary approach to creating, choosing materials that elicit certain sensual responses; luscious creamy paints, indelible ink stains, torn collage papers, scratched surfaces, shimmering metallics.
The work celebrates strength, vulnerability, power, grace, fear and courage. Resulting in beautiful, complex pieces that uplift peoples energy and their spaces.
