This piece is about freedom.  Freedom of expression, freedom of movement.  Something that has impacted all of our lives in recent years.  It's evocative of birds in the sky, weightless and unburdened, soaring through the air - free and untethered.

It is an original painting created with ink, acrylic and gold leaf that catches the light as you move around the painting.

There are small details that can be relished up close and more impactful marks to be appreciated from further away.

I loved creating this mixed media painting - even the process of creating it felt free and liberating.  I moved around a lot, danced and had so much fun just letting loose.  I'll be very sad to see this one go as it has a special place in my heart.

Taking Flight, original mixed media painting, 4' by 3', stretched over a wooden frame.

If you would like a float frame around this piece I'd suggest either white or wood, depending on your decor.  I'd be happy to advise and also get it framed with my bespoke fine art framer in Cornwall.  Est cost for float frame is approx £75.

The float frame gives the appearance of a frame floating around the painting i.e. there is a 5mm gap between the painting and the frame.  It will work beautifully for this piece but there is no obligation, it can simply be purchased and hung as-is.

Artist Info"My work is about freedom, expression and emotion

I use a multi-disciplinary approach to creating, choosing materials that elicit certain sensual responses; luscious creamy paints, indelible ink stains, torn collage papers, scratched surfaces, shimmering metallics.

The work celebrates strength, vulnerability, power, grace, fear and courage. Resulting in beautiful, complex pieces that uplift peoples energy and their spaces."
