How to commission a painting

What exactly is a commission?

A commission is a piece that is custom made for you. It’s one of a kind and is exclusive to you.

I love the process of working 1:1, to a brief, creating something that will enhance a space and pull together all the elements in a room or simply evoke a feeling or memory.

A commissioned piece of art is a beautiful addition to any home or business and is the combined vision of both the client and the artist. It often becomes a talking point of the room, a place of escapism to daydream in, and something that you love and treasure.

Exclusivity

Each commission produced for my collectors is exclusive. You have sole rights to display the art in your home or office and I give up any rights to reproduce the art in any form. I will reserve the right to share it on social media channels and hope that you do too!

How the process works

I only do a limited number of commissions each year, which allows me time to work on my own projects.

Step 1: Fill out the commission enquiry form. This gives me more details about what type of thing you’re looking for. Size, style, colours etc.

Step 2: I’ll then contact you and we’ll have a chat about the space, what ideas I have and I’ll provide you with a costing. If you are happy and would like to proceed, I will then send you an invoice for 50% of the cost.

Step 3: I begin your painting! I usually schedule around 4-6 weeks for a finished painting. As it’s progressing towards a finished piece, I will send you images so that you can make any minor amendments, or if you are local you can visit the studio.

Step 4: Once your painting is complete and you are happy with it, I will send you an invoice for the remaining 50%. I will then lovingly wrap and ship your unique piece. All paintings come wired and ready to hang unless otherwise agreed.

This is just to give me a rough indication of the size of painting you are considering. The final details will always be confirmed if you decide to go ahead with the commission. At this stage, there is no commitment.

Material

Again no commitment here, it just allows me to ascertain whether what you want, will work in the material you have chosen.

Is there a particular painting of mine that you are drawn to?

Colours - are there any particular colour combinations that you have in mind?

Style - do you prefer abstracts, figurative (bodies), portraits or a combination?
